This was the worst Valentine's Day ever.
So far it was not going well. Plain and simple, it had been an absolutely horrible day.
Despite the fact that he'd had to work - on Valentine's Day - Miyavi was also scheduled for a meeting with someone about an upcoming tour. He hadn't really been paying attention to anything, but he'd grasped that it was supposedly going to be 'really big'. It didn't matter. He just wanted to get home.
From there, he'd gone to the most uneventful rehearsal ever. Not only had he not managed to get a single song done, his mind had been wandering so much they'd had to call it a day hours early. Calling the day hours early would normally be all right.
Except for the fact that 'hours early' meant ten o'clock in the evening as opposed to midnight.
The drive home had been long and tiresome: he'd been stuck in traffic for what seemed like ages, which was odd for so late at night. And when he finally got back to his home he found out that he'd left some papers his manager had told him to read and know back to front at the studio. Now, he couldn't even read them.
"Just... A nice shower. Or a bath. Anything," he mumbled as the lock to his door clicked open. He slipped his key back into his pocket, but he missed and they ended up clinking onto the marble floor in the entryway. Without even bothering to really take a step in, he leaned over and picked up said key, but something caught his eye a moment later.
A sticky note. On the floor. Actually taped to his floor. With a little arrow decorating the front. It was pointing into the house. Rolling his eyes, he walked inside, holding the note and continuing to make his way in. At the next doorway he was met with another note, this time taped to the wall. He took it.
Another arrow. This time there was also a small smiley face next to it that was winking. He chuckled a little bit and continued with the directions.
That sticky note led him to the kitchen. Which was decorated in some of the most cliché, albeit thoughtful, decorations ever. Toying with one of the roses he found in a vase on the table, he slipped it out of its container and smelled it.
"Mm... It actually smells, too. It's not one of those ones that claims they smell but don't." He laughed.
Well, all of this was making him feel a lot better, but where was the end?
Just as he thought that, he noticed another note, this time sitting on one of the plates at the table. He picked it up and raised his brow.
It just said 'bedroom.'
Rolling his eyes and almost groaning audibly, he wondered what kind of sight was awaiting him in his bedroom. Honestly, what was he going to find when he opened that door and -
His train of thought derailed when he saw the bedroom, bed simply pulled down and ready for sleep. And Maya was there, lying amidst the sheets, completely unaware of the world as he slept on one side of the bed. Miyavi smiled.
Either Maya had meant to be asleep and make everything look inviting or he'd fallen asleep while waiting. More than likely it was the second choice. So Miyavi simply snuck into the bed, watching as Maya curled closer to him. As Miyavi moved a bit, though, his hip hit something small and his mouth formed into a silent yelp before he bit his lip. He reached down and grabbed it, then opened the wrapped box he found there. And he promptly misted up.
Inside the tiny box that he'd been so bitter to accidentally lie on was a ring that he'd seen in a store ages ago. It was out of the country and he'd never had a chance to buy it because he'd been so busy. As far as he knew, only one store even carried them. The only way Maya could have gotten this was if he'd gone back and gotten it for him.
At this point he was crying a little, but the smile that was on his lips told any that saw what he really felt. And out of the corner of his eye he saw a similar smile slip onto Maya's lips as the other wrapped an arm around his shoulders and pulled him closer.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Miyavi," he said softly, and Miyavi closed his eyes.
This was the best Valentine's Day ever.
